Verse Focus:
“The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.” — Psalm 19:8
Observation
A dear friend once paused and asked me, “How come you have that threshold of loneliness?”
She couldn’t understand how, despite being thousands of miles away from my only son, I still radiated joy.
Her question was sincere, and I found myself answering with the most honest words I could find:
“I constantly talk and listen to God. I don’t feel alone.”
Insights & Reflections
When my son left for Canada in July 2020, I felt that familiar tug in my heart—an ache only a mother could understand. I was afraid of the silence at home, fearful of the solitude that might consume me. I confessed that pain to God. He did not respond with words. He responded with a profound assurance through His Spirit:
“I am with you. I am with your son.”
That changed everything.
It’s been almost 5 years, and I’ve never wailed in loneliness, not even once.
Instead, I found solitude becoming a sanctuary. A place where I could encounter God in deep and personal ways.

Even during the pandemic lockdowns—while the world felt isolated—I experienced a holy companionship that kept my soul alive. My days became filled with:
- Daily moments of undivided quiet time with God.
- Weekend video calls with my son and my dad.
- Weekly dgroup meetings, where we prayed, studied the Word, and carried one another’s burdens.
- Personal conversations with God throughout the day—my own inner “Selah,” a holy pause in His presence.
This is not something extraordinary. It’s simply the result of pursuing intimacy with God above all else.

Life Application: How to Find Joy in Solitude
Here are some practical ways you can begin experiencing God’s presence even in your loneliest seasons:
- Embrace Solitude as a Gift.
Don’t fear being alone—treat it as an invitation to deeper intimacy with God. - Talk to God Honestly.
Share your pain, your questions, your joys. Nothing is too small or too big. - Create a Daily “Selah.”
Pause intentionally to listen. Don’t rush. Let silence become sacred. - Be in Community—even from a Distance.
Join or form a small group (dgroup). You’re not meant to walk your faith journey alone. - Consume God’s Word.
Let His precepts and promises saturate your heart and renew your mind. - Be Filled by the Holy Spirit.
Ask daily for a fresh filling of His Spirit—the source of that unspeakable joy.

Prayer
Father,
Thank You for being my constant companion, especially in the seasons when the world feels quiet and lonely. Help me to seek You above all things and to find delight in Your presence. Teach me to pause. Teach me to listen. Help me trust that even when I’m physically alone, I am never truly by myself.
Fill my heart with Your joy—the kind that can’t be explained but is deeply felt.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
